MISIRLOU (TRAD . | DiCK DALE)

About

From the Soundtrack of „Pulp Fiction“. Regarding origin and composer of the song, that is not quite clear. Some say it’s based on a folk tune from Greece or Anatolia, others name Theodotos Demetriades, who recorded it first in 1927, as the author. Had a wonderful jam weekend recently and rocked the house with this one. Great tune.

Original Key

Dick Dale: E

Tuning

Low G sounds better, regular works

Tab Notes

The Dick Dale surf rock cover has a strong backbeat (1 2+ 3 4), which you can imitate by playing some dead notes when the melody pauses: On the barred E chord, I mute the strings by slightly releasing the pressure of the left index finger. In the B-part, I use the right hand palm to mute the strings.
