NEEDLE AND THE DAMAGE DONE (NEIL YOUNG)

About

Written by Neil Young and  first appeared on the "Harvest" album in 1972. Some days ago I posted the wonderful „I don’t want to talk about it“ by Young’s bandmate and friend Danny Whitten, a heavy heroin addict. „The Needle and the Damage done“ is linked to this guy. In the linear notes on the „Decade“ Album, Young says about the song: "I am not a preacher, but drugs killed a lot of great men." Sad, but true.

Sorry for being so lazy - I just wrote down the main theme, which comes in numerous variations throughout this short tune. Interesting descending bass figure.
