ENGLISHMAN IN NEW YORK (STING)

About

This sophisticated jazz-reggae-pop crossover piece perfectly matches the „elegant“ attitude that I - being from the continent - associate with the upper class English way of life. I never thought this song would work in fingerstyle. But good music works in any style. This arrangement is based on a very complicated tab I found in the internet and had the pleasure to simplify.

Original Key

Bm

Tuning

Regular

Tab Notes

In the first line I noted the basic „pizzicato“ chord sequence, which is the backbone of that tune. I play that through several times to get a feel for the groove. And the groove here is more important than hitting every single note exactly. Three parts contained:

[ A ] Verse

[ B ] Chorus

[ C ] Bridge - the last chord Gdim is a little tricky. You either have to change the fingering during this bars or simply leave out the b flat (grey).

„Be yourself, no matter what they say“ (if you can afford to).
