Walking Bass Feature #1

As you might have found out by now, I am a great fan of melodic fingerstyle. Concentrating on the main theme of a song is what comes first for me. However, in the low end, that same old alternating root note / fifth  gets a little boring now and then. That is why I thought of posting a little series of tunes with slightly more interesting bass figures over the coming weeks. Let's start with a simpler tune containing only a "homeopathic" dose of walking bass:

- Mellow Yellow

Also nice on Ukulele:

- Mellow Yellow (Uke)

Coming up next are, among two ore three others:

- Blue Moon

- In the Mood

Also check out some older posts:

- Bare Necessities (in some parts)

- Pigtown Fling

- Hit the Road Jack

- Bach’s Bourreé in E-Minor (to my taste the walking bass line of the millennium)

November 27, 2015

New Star Wars movie coming to the cinemas. Not that I would care much, but a nice occasion to post this one.

- Cantina Band Theme (Guitar)

November 22, 2015

Another request,

- I Wanna be Like You (Guitar)

November 20, 2015

November 10, 2015

Requests take some time, but will be delivered. Speed up the process with a donation. Here's one for Robert. Thanks a lot. I hope you like it.

- Mother Nature's Son (Ukulele)

November 01, 2015

Since Christmas is approaching rapidly, I will try to finalize some requests in the next days.

October 13, 2015

Here comes second and last series of the "Turnaround Tunes". Isn't it just amazing what you can do with four chords only ?

- The Passenger (Ukulele)

- Careless Whisper (Ukulele)

October 9, 2015

Saw "Grease" recently again and remembered that song, which I started tabbing a long time ago and then just forgot. Immediately took it up again.

- You're the one that I want (Guitar)

October 5, 2015

This time I thought of starting a little sequel of songs which I call „Turnaround Tunes“. Those songs are based on a repeating chord progression (also called „vamp“ or -more sophisticated-„harmonic ostinato“) which is continued throughout a song. Maybe the most popular turnaround is I-VIm-IV-V.

In Fmajor, the key chosen for this series of songs, this would be F-Dm-Bb-C

I find it really interesting to see how many wonderful melodies are based on this simple pattern (or slight variations of it):

- All I Have to do is Dream (Ukulele)

- Love is all around (Ukulele)

- Only You (Ukulele)

- Stay (Ukulele)

- Wonderful World (the other one, Ukulele)

March 27, 2015

If you wonder about some files with the extension "v2": I just reworked some sheets, either correcting some minor mistakes or harmonization of tab layout. Particularly some of the earlier guitar tabs need refurbishing. Ongoing.
