GEAR

I don't know why, but people recently started asking me what I play and why. To cut that short , I made this page. What I play is shown below, and the why is easy to explain. I get along with it and I like the sound. That's all. But if it suits me it doesn't mean it will suit anyone of you.

1

Kala Jazz Tenor.

Worth Brown Strings,

low G tuning.

Main Instrument.

Initially ordered it just for the looks and planned to send it back. But I love the mellow sound and kept it. Fantastic neck feel.

2

Risa Concert Ukulele.

Pyramid Strings (Made in Germany)

re-entrant tuning.

Found it on eBay and fell in love with the shape of uke. (Hi Didier). I do not even know the type name of that axe. Quite unique sound, very crisp. The strings do not really mingle into each other.

3

Risa Uke Solid Tenor

Strings: ? (the ones that were on)

re-entrant tuning / open C

Also bought second hand and mainly used while travelling and to not disturb the wife, the kids, the dogs and the neighbours. Currently this uke very patiently bears my bottleneck playing attempts.

4

Yamaha NTX 900

Hannabach Strings Medium Tension

(after a long search.. )

The one and only. Yes, nylon strings. Nut width is 48 mm, which is a little more comfortable compared to the 52 mm of a standard classical guitar and perfect for fingerstyle. Has a very good tuner, which is a must.

5

Takamine Acoustic Bass

Thomastik Nylon Core Strings

Mainly for jamming and pracitising band / concert band stuff unplugged.
