KILLING ME SOFTLY (FOX / GIMBEL)

About

Roberta Flack’s mega hit from 1973. Beautiful. I would love to be able to sing it,

but that would sound like that poor kid’s weird off-key version in „About a boy“.

Original Key

Dm

Tuning

gCEA

Tab Notes

Basically only two standard parts, verse and chorus. Note that chord changes are mostly at the 4+ beat. The grey notes are fillers during the long notes and breaks, but you can leave that out if you want. The melody is so strong, it doesn’t need much fancy tinkling around.

In the first bar of the original chorus, it is one note repeated fast („Killing me softly…“), Same thing in the third and fifth bar.  On the ukulele, this doesn’t sound good to my ears, so I arpeggiated the chord.
