TOm TRAUBERT'S Blues (TOM WAITS)

About

Maybe one of the most beautiful songs by Tom Waits, with the chorus derived from the inofficial Australian anthem.

Original Key

F

Tuning

Regular

Tab Notes

To be played real relaxed, let ring the bass and accompanying notes (piano style).

[ A ] is the first verse, [ A’ ] stands for most of the other verses, where the melody starts on the third. The verse comes in lots of phrasing variations (not all of the tabbed) and a „sloppy“ timing.  Wonderful how the A9 rings in.

Part [ B ] is the chorus, very interesting bass line movement here  : G - A - B - C - B - A  and then resolving in the Dominant 7.

And before you ask, yes, I noticed that there’s a brief time change (one 2/4 bar inserted) at the end of the chorus. I was just too lazy to write that down. Play by feeling and you will do right.
