„Somewhere my Love“ is based on the leitmotif of the 1965 epic drama „Doctor Zhivago“. The tune is also known as „Lara’s Theme“. Maurice Jarre, the composer won the Academy Award (Oscar) for best original score. And yes, he is the father of the synthesizer pioneer Jean-Michel Jarre. The song is another example for success by happenstance: Initially David Lean, the film director wanted to use a well-known Russian song for the film but could not locate the rights to it (says Wikipedia).
